Aimee Knight
Occupational Therapist
Where are you from?
I grew up in Failsworth, Manchester and moved to Westhoughton in 2019. I spent some time living in Huddersfield during my studies and some time following before moving back to Westhoughton.
Where did you study/ work previously?
I completed my Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Huddersfield with placements in a Hand Therapy unit, a Community Frailty team, an SEND college, and an Acute Mental Health Unit. Since graduating I spent time working within the NHS Acute Mental Health services in Halifax.
What is a typical day at MTS like for you?
The variety at MTS makes it difficult to describe a typical day. Sometimes we are in a client's home completing assessments or helping making adjustments and adaptations, other days can be out in the community supporting exposure to new activities and overcoming barriers in their environments. It is completely dependent on the clients goals.
What’s the best thing about your role?
I love that I can help support individuals in a way that truly matters for them, making a difference in their lives. Getting to build meaningful therapeutic relationships and helping someone through their rehab journey is an inspiring and rewarding position to be in.
What do you consider is your biggest achievement within your role?
Just knowing that I have contributed towards someone's rehabilitation journey, helping them do something that matters for them regardless of how small it might seem.
